In McKay Landing, the main town common area is centrally situated on over 16 acres, and is known as the McKay Landing Recreation Center. The recreation center will include a community pool and playing fields, among other amenities. Families and friends can enjoy early morning jogs and sunset strolls along numerous footpaths, which will connect the entire community to the Quail Creek Regional Trail, extending from McKay Lake all the way west through the Broadlands. McKay Lake itself has great fishing. Families of all sizes will enjoy the walking trails, bike paths, and playing fields located within McKay Landing's park-centered lifestyle.

In Summer Bay North, Lake Isle and Skycove neighborhoods, Lakeside Drive is the main thoroughfare. Street and walking trails lead to McKay Lake. Engle Homes is building their new alley-served homes in Skycove, during first phase of McKay Landing. The James Company will be building luxury townhomes in the Lake Isle and affordable townhomes in the Summer Bay North neighborhoods.

In the FairWind neighborhood, houses are linked through a series of pocket parks including the future school (as a central meeting place). Engle Homes' Grand Mesa and Grand Valley Series will be built in this neighborhood during the third phase of McKay Landing.

The ParkPlace neighborhood will offer a strong, central gathering place as the future site of the school, a park and McKay Landing recreation center being built in the spring of 2002. Open space corridors interconnect to ParkPlace, creating a community "core" for walking/bike trails. ParkPlace will consist of luxury single family homes built by the James Company.

In the LakeSong and Summer Bay South neighborhoods, intimate enclaves back to open space, linking to a wetland preserve and McKay Lake. LakeSong will consist of Engle Homes' Grand Mesa series. Summer Bay south will consist of townhomes built by James Company. Both are available in the first phase of McKay Landing.
